State police sergeant faces DUI charges in connection with Sept. crash

Posted: Updated:

A Connecticut State Police sergeant is facing DUI charges.

John McDonald was arrested Tuesday in connection with an off-duty car accident in September. He has been on paid administrative leave since last Thursday.

Police say McDonald was driving his assigned state vehicle when he ran a stop sign and hit another car with two people inside. All three people involved were hurt.

McDonald is facing several charges, including driving under the influence of liquor and/or drugs. An internal affairs investigation is ongoing.

McDonald is due in court Dec. 2.
