A former New Haven police officer and his wife were found dead in their condo, officials say.

Waterbury police found LaRhonda Jones and Eric Jones in a bedroom with what appears to be gunshot wounds.

They were doing a welfare check after LaRhonda Jones did not show up to work.

Police say a handgun was found at the scene.

Eric Jones reportedly retired from the New Haven Police Department in 2012 and neighbors say LaRhonda Jones was a pastor at local church.
