Police say a man died after being shot in Hempstead early Monday morning.

They say officers were called around 2:30 a.m. about gunshots on Burnett Street.

When officers arrived, they say they found a 34-year-old man lying on the ground with gunshot wounds.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
