Private investigator speaks to News 12 about shooting death of his employee

A business owner in East Haven spoke with News 12 Saturday about the death of one of his workers – a retired New Haven police officer found shot in Waterbury last week with his wife.
Eric Jones and Jones' wife LaRhonda were found inside the couple's Waterbury condo on Nov. 21. Police say a gun was found nearby, though what led up to the couple's death has not yet been determined.
Mark Schachter, co-owner of Investigative Consultants, LLC, says it was a day he will never forget. He says Jones worked for him as an armed security officer, often in synagogues throughout the area. He called Jones pleasant and trustworthy.

"I worked with him closely on the High Holy Holidays. He was a very, very good armed security officer," says Schachter. "He even went beyond and above on those specific days to make sure people felt and comfortable coming into the synagogue.”
Authorities says the 54-year-old father retired from the New Haven Police Department in 2012 after two decades on the job. Eric Jones' funeral is scheduled for Monday at Christ Chapel New Testament Church in New Haven.
