From Netflix to your home: NJ man creates at-home baking company

A New Jersey man featured on a Netflix baking competition show has created a business to allow people to learn how to bake from scratch.
Dominick DeFalco, of Manalapan, was featured on the show “Sugar Rush” and has now created the company Whisk Takers.
“In the next five years, I would like Whisk Takers to be everywhere,” DeFalco says.
DeFalco says that the company provides “a super simple, convenient way to bake from scratch."
News of the baking kit service has been spreading thanks to features in Buzzfeed and the New York Times. DeFalco says that the idea stemmed from a difficult time in his life.
“Three years ago, my grandpa passed away and he was a big baker,” he says. “When he passed away I didn’t know how to handle it, so I just baked.”
DeFalco says that he wanted to help others learn to bake, so he created Whisk Takers to provide step-by-step instructions for the public.
“We give you pre-measured ingredients,” DeFalco says.
There are a variety of recipes, including one for his grandfather’s pistachio cake. There are also vegan and gluten-free confections.
DeFalco says that he wants to get people excited about baking.
"Bringing everyone together or getting a kid really excited about something they made,” he says.
DeFalco was featured on season 2 of “Sugar Rush.”
