Friends and community members have been adding to a makeshift memorial in Waterbury for a brother and sister who were killed Tuesday in an apparent murder-suicide inside a home.

Della Jette, 15, and Sterling Jette Jr., 16, were shot inside the home at 1190 Litchfield Road and later pronounced dead at Waterbury Hospital.

Police say the boyfriend of the mother, Paul W. Ferguson, 42, shot the teens and then shot himself in the head inside a locked room. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Garrett Kowalski, a friend of the victims, told News 12 that he dropped Sterling Jette off at the house just one hour before the shooting. Kowalski says there were no outward signs of trouble there.

“They were two good people…It's the last family I would expect this to happen to," says Kowalski.

The siblings’ father, Sterling Sr., committed suicide in the same home three years ago.
