The family of a man found shot to death inside a blighted Bridgeport building is opening up about their tragic loss.
Miguel Angel Afzel, who was 22, was found dead Sunday with a gunshot wound to the head in the old Remington Arms factory building on Barnum Avenue.
Afzel's fiancee, Stephanie Quinones, says the pain of losing her newborn baby's dad is almost unbearable.
"It's been hell because we haven't slept," she said. "My stomach is in a knot."
The holidays have made it especially hard for Quinones.
Afzel went missing three weeks ago, with loved ones initially hoping to bring him home in time for Thanksgiving. The family is instead planning for a funeral.
"Your heart goes out to the family at this time of year," says Bridgeport Police Capt. Brian Fitzgerald. "We're hoping that, in the coming days or weeks, that we can put some pieces together and bring some closure to the family."
The family says they are grateful for the work police have done, but getting closure could take months, if not years.
"He was a great person, he loved to make everybody laugh," said Quinones. "We want justice. We want to find the people who did this and get justice for him."
