Skiiers and snowboarders wasted no time hitting the slopes with ski season officially underway Friday.
Snow machines were hard at work on opening day at Ski Sundown in New Hartford. Owner Bob Switzgable says he hasn't made his first run yet -- he's been too busy get his 20+ trails ready for visitors. He says six were open Friday and up to five more should be ready by Sunday.
Bill Baker and his wife Anita say Ski Sundown is a second home for them when the weather turns cold.
"We go to Florida for part of the year, but we always stay here long enough to be able to ski," Anita says.
Switzgable says shredding up the snow isn't just for diehards -- beginners can have fun too. Ski Sundown has programs and classes for skiiers of all experience level all season long.
