Local businesses see burst of last minute-holiday shoppers

Posted: Updated:

Many families are rushing out to local stores this last Sunday before Christmas to get last-minute holiday gifts for their loved ones.

At Awesome Toys, products like Funko POP! figures are flying off the shelf.

"We are just constantly wrapping gifts, picking up new things and trying to keep the shelves kind of full," says George Connington, a sales associate at Awesome Toys.

At Greenwich store Splurge, mission-based items have been big sellers. Those brands donate a portion of their proceeds to saving elephants and the ocean.

Awesome Toys' most popular toys this year are LOL Dolls, ride-a-pony, science kits, and of course LEGOs, especially "Star Wars" LEGOs.
