A New Canaan woman was seriously injured by a falling tree limb while posing for pictures taken by her son outside Wavney Park.
The incident happened on Dec. 17 outside Lapham Road and Waveny Park around 7 p.m. while Rachel Coder Matthews was posing for pictures.
Her son, Lane Coder, a professional photographer, says his mother was posing for pictures when a tree branch fell right on top of her.
Coder says it sounded like a bomb had just gone off and he rushed over to his mother who was lying on the ground.
He says several cars drove by them and no one stopped to help but he managed to get the branch off of her.
He credits the fast response time of Norwalk and New Canaan first responders.
Rachel suffered three broken vertebrae, a brain hemorrhage, broken ribs, and a 10 inch gash on her head that's being held together with staples.

He says his mother is in a rehab facility where she'll be for a few weeks, but is expected to make a full recovery.
