Ansonia police confirmed Wednesday that they were searching the area of BJ's Wholesale in Derby earlier this week in connection to a missing girl Vanessa Morales.
Police Lt. Patrick Lynch says police were searching the area while following up on a lead Monday but would not comment any further.
According to several published reports, investigators found a discarded car seat in the woods near the BJ's matching the description of the one used by her mother Christine Holloway.
Morales vanished and Holloway was found beaten to death inside her Ansonia home on Dec. 2.
The girl's father, Jose Morales was identified as a suspect in both the death of Holloway and the disappearance of his 1-year-old daughter, police say.
Morales is in police custody and is facing weapon possession charges.
