Police say five teenagers were arrested in connection to the stabbing of a 15-year-old student of Uniondale High School.
They say three 15-year-old boys, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, all from Uniondale, were arrested and arraigned in Hempstead. The teenagers are all believed to be possibly affiliated with MS-13.
Police say the student was confronted by the group at the corner of Walnut Street and Leslie Lane when he was stabbed in the abdomen. He was also struck in the head several times with a baseball bat.
He was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition. The student has since been released.
Police say a social media post was the reason the group attacked the 15-year-old.
All five were charged with first-degree assault and first-degree gang assault, which carries a 25-year prison sentence.
Three of the teenagers were from Uniondale High School, and the other two were from Hempstead High School. School officials say they have been suspended from those schools.
Uniondale High School officials say they are not allowed on school grounds.
