Sorority makes clothes for children to honor Martin Luther King Jr. service day in Bridgeport

Posted: Updated:

Bridgeport community members are coming together to honor Martin Luther King Jr. by giving back to those in need.

The women of the Theta Tau Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority are spending the day sewing for the Little Dresses for Africa program.

Sorority President Lashante James says the group takes pillow cases to make dresses for girls who otherwise wouldn’t have any.

Long-time sorority members and children just learning the craft are taking part in the event at the Burroughs Community Center.
