Animal lovers aim to raise donations for stray cat in need of surgery

Animal advocates are asking community members to donate money in order to help a stray cat in need of surgery.
Just Cats Veterinary Hospital says Shelby, a 5-year-old stray cat, came into the shelter in November missing part of his back right leg and had a bad fracture in his front right leg.
Patty Morris, from the organization Friends of Felines, says now that Shelby's infections have been taken care of, he needs surgery to get back on his feet.
The surgery costs about $8,200. Friends of Felines say they have already raised over $4,000.
Volunteers say after his surgery on Thursday, Shelby will be in a cast for eight weeks and need regular checkups.
Morris says Shelby will be ready to find his forever home after a few months of recovery.
