Ansonia police say they have every reason to believe 1-year-old Vanessa Morales is still alive, and has not left the state.
The family of Morales has been pleading for her safe return ever since the small child went missing Dec. 2. On that same day, police found her mother Christine Holloway dead in her Myrtle Avenue home.
Police say they are still actively working on the case.
"Two months later we're still following up on some leads. Information keeps coming in. Detectives along with the FBI, state police are still working in conjunction to follow up the leads and bring Vanessa home," says Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch.
Police consider Morales' father Jose a prime suspect in the case. He is currently in jail on a weapons charge in New Haven.
Police believe a car seat, backpack and blanket may be with Vanessa. A nationwide Amber Alert is still key in solving her disappearance.
Authorities say they are hoping to arrest Jose Morales for murder in connection to Vanessa's disappearance. The FBI is still offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who brings Vanessa safely back to police.
