Man pleads guilty to kidnapping in death of woman found in Greenwich woods
The ex-boyfriend of a woman whose body was found in Greenwich has pleaded guilty to kidnapping resulting in death.
Javier Dasilva-Rojas, 25, is now expected to be sentenced to at least 30 years in prison.
Thursday marks one year since Valerie Reyes was found stuffed in a suitcase in the woods of Greenwich. The New Rochelle, New York woman's body was found off the east shoulder of Glenville Road, just north of Stillman Lane in Greenwich.
Dasilva-Rojas had reportedly told police he was with Reyes in her apartment when she fell and hit her head. Her cause of death was listed as homicidal asphyxia.
Reyes was 24.
Sentencing for Dasilva-Rojas is set for May 21.
"Although justice has been served, we remain saddened by the loss of Valerie and sincerely hope that her family will find peace and a sense of closure to this tragedy," Greenwich police said in a statement.
