Football already back with XFL set to relaunch this weekend

The newly revamped XFL season kicks off this week, which means football is already back in East Rutherford.
The New York Guardians will call MetLife Stadium their home. The team will be led by former News York Giants assistant coach Kevin Gilbride.
The XFL consists of eight teams, which will each play a 10-week regular season, playoff and a championship to be held in April.
The Guardians say that they are excited to get their season underway.
"I think we have a passionate group of players - guys that football is important to them. They care for each other, so I think from the type of core you're looking for, we got the right mix," Gilbride says.
Matt McGloin is the team's quarterback.
"It's exciting. It's been somewhat of a quick turnaround with minicamp in December and training camp in January. But I feel like this team has really come together to find out what type of football we want to play and it's going to be a great atmosphere out here on Sunday," he says.
The Guardians open their season this Sunday at MetLife Stadium against the Tampa Bay Vipers.
