Some Bridgeport residents are not happy about plans to tear down a local housing project.
City Councilman Jorge Cruz calls the plan to decommission the Greene Homes Apartments "an affront to common sense."
City officials say the Bridgeport Housing Authority accepted the city's emergency application to shut the facility down and relocate its residents.
They say the complex has a history of crime, broken elevators and plumbing problems.
“It's very unfair for the people that live in these projects to be treated as criminals and I'm very sick and tired of that and I think it just needs to stop," says Cruz.
Mayor Joe Ganim says getting the complex torn down and replaced is a top priority.
