Islanders fans should expect to call Belmont their home for a long time.
A Newsday report says the Isles' deal with the state includes a non-relocation agreement intended to keep the team at Belmont Park for 25 years.
The deal was signed back in December with Empire State Development, the state agency that owns the land at Belmont Park.
If the Islanders break the agreement during the 25-year window, they would have to pay ESD a penalty that decreases each year.
The Belmont Park arena is currently under construction and is expected to open in October 2021.
