‘Insult to injury:’ Bridgeport mother condemns decision to grant convicted killer new trial

The state Supreme Court has overturned an appellate court ruling and ordered a new trial for convicted murderer Raashon "Red Dreads" Jackson.
He was serving a 55-year prison term for the fatal shooting of LaChristopher Pettway, of Bridgeport, and wounding of others in 2013.
According to the CT Post, “the state’s highest court ruled that the trial judge abused his discretion when he allowed prosecutors to call as a witness an expert on cellphone locations late in the case, preventing the defense from getting an expert of its own to refute the evidence.”
Jackie Pettway, LaChristopher’s mother, says it’s adding insult to injury for her son’s killer to get a new trial.
"My son lost his life and his killer gets a chance to come back to court just to torment our family?” she says. "The justice system is a joke."
Jackson will stay behind bars pending his new trial.
