Two house fires in Bridgeport burned simultaneously Thursday morning, leaving dozens of people displaced.
The most severe of the two fires broke out shortly after 11a.m. near the intersection of Ellsworth and Hansen streets in Black Rock.
Fire officials said the fire quickly jumped to neighboring homes, even to vehicles parked nearby, though only the house was destroyed by the flames. They said all occupants made it out safely.
Meantime, another fire broke out simultaneously at a two-family house on Pearl Harbor Street on the East Side of the city.
Nobody was hurt in this fire either.
"It's rare to have a fire of this magnitude in the middle of the day where people can see it right away, but then to have two fires in the middle of the day, it's rare," said Fire Chief Richard Thode.
The Red Cross is assisting the families from both fires.
