Connecticut lawmakers are calling on the federal government to play a more active role in preventing the spread of coronavirus.
President Donald Trump signed an $8.3 billion emergency spending bill on Friday, but leaders say the top priority should be getting more testing kits to affected states.
"As much as I'm thinking of the victim and the family, I'm also more determined than ever that Connecticut receive money, testing equipment, protective gear right away," Sen. Richard Blumenthal says.
President Trump toured Centers for Disease Control headquarters in Atlanta Friday afternoon, and said the agency is currently making enough kits to test "millions."
