Westport Museum for History and Culture celebrates Women's History Month

March is Women's History Month, and a Westport museum is celebrating important female figures from the town.
The Westport Museum for History and Culture is celebrating Women's History Month with exhibits on the 19th Amendment and Sigrid Schultz, an embedded World War II journalist and the first female bureau chief for a major news outlet.
"We have a display area relating to suffrage and to successful women in Westport," says Ramin Ganeshram, executive director of the Westport Museum.
The museum includes stories of women, people of color, immigrants and children.
"We want people to see themselves here," says Ganeshram.
The museum is exclusively staffed by women, which Ganeshram says only helps reinforce that mission of representation.
Women's History Month continues at the Westport Museum with an exhibit on photographer Nell Dorr opening March 25.
