Bridgeport mayor orders nonessential city employees to stay home

The mayor of Bridgeport is ordering nonessential city employees to stay home beginning Monday due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Mayor Joe Ganim visited the city's 911 center and praised them for ranking among the best in Connecticut, according to a state report. The center is not to be affected.

"Police and fire, emergency will continue to go on," Ganim said.

He added that the pandemic requires emergency action.
