A Westport woman is making sure that those on the front lines of the coronavirus have the protection they need amid a shortage of supplies.
In just two days, Jenna Brooke Purcell has collected more than 600 masks for medical professionals.
Her mission began after she posted on the Westport Front Porch Facebook group, asking if anyone with extra masks could leave them outside their front door as a donation.
Purcell then picked them up and drops them off directly to health care professionals. She says every single mask makes a difference toward slowing the spread of the coronavirus.
"Right now, our medical staff needs the support," she told News 12.
Amy Bauer, an in-patient social worker, helps provide end-of-life care. The facility she works for serves more than 100 people through out Fairfield County. After seeing Purcell's post, she immediately asked for help.
"We're on the front lines, as is every health care worker, and it's a scary time," said Bauer. "If I could hug [Purcell], I would."
Anyone with masks that can be donated can e-mail Purcess directly at jennabrookepurcell@gmail.com. They can also be dropped off at Purcell Moving Company – 7 Brookeside Place in Westport.
