Doctors at Norwalk and Danbury hospitals are practicing social distancing through virtual visits to help patients get through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Both hospitals are part of Nuvance Health, which started doing virtual visits Monday. Officials say about 80% of visits are now online.
Patients should contact their doctor's office to set up an appointment on a mobile app or computer.
"So by having a virtual visit with your doctor we can assess who is at higher risk," says Dr. Chris Lehrach, president of Medical Practices at Nuvance Health. “We can certainly get some information about how sick you are and recommend further treatment or evaluation if necessary."
Dr. Lehrach says the process is making testing go faster. He says Danbury Hospital did 256 tests Wednesday and about 20% came back positive.
