Lamont: CT coronavirus death toll hits 33, total cases surpass 1,500

Gov. Ned Lamont's office says since Friday, an additional 233 Connecticut residents have tested positive for COVID-19 – bringing the statewide total to 1,524.
The governor says the death toll in the state is at 33, including five new deaths in Fairfield County.
At his news conference Saturday evening, Gov. Lamont said that President Donald Trump’s remark about a quarantine for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut was just him thinking out loud. He says that confusion during this uneasy time in the country could create panic.
"I'm not saying there's not more that can be done,” says Lamont. “I'm saying we're going to work collaboratively with the White House to get more done and I'm certainly going to work very closely with my fellow governors because I think…we work a lot better together."
 BRIEFING NOTES:
-Lamont expressed concerns about President Trump's comments earlier Saturday that he is considering a quarantine in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey.
-Lamont says confusion creates panic, and he and his fellow tri-state governors need clarity on what the president means.
-Lamont says he spoke with the White House Saturday to voice his concerns, and says he expects an update soon.
