Police: 38-year-old fatally shot in Bridgeport Friday night

A 38-year-old man was fatally shot in Bridgeport Friday night, police say.
Authorities say that there were reports of shots fired just after 11 p.m. at the intersection of Wordin Avenue and Cherry Street near the I-95 S Exit 26 offramp.
The victim has been identified as Robert Belton.
Police say Belton was pronounced dead Saturday morning at Bridgeport Hospital after being taken there by private vehicle.
News 12 Connecticut is told that this is the fourth homicide in Bridgeport this year.
There has not yet been word on any arrests or suspects, but authorities say Bridgeport police are reviewing all surveillance cameras within the area.
Friends say Belton was known for being a hard worker who was devoted to his family.
"This is a good young man, another good young man, lost his life senselessly," said family friend Tony Barr. "It broke my heart. My heart is broken. I know the parents and the family members and cousins, everyone."
The family says they're still in the process of making funeral arrangements.
Meantime, police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the fatal shooting to help investigators by calling their tip line at 203-576-TIPS.
