Doctor from Mariah Carey’s LI hometown asks for serenade of ‘Hero’

A doctor from Huntington, the birthplace and childhood home of Mariah Carey, wants her to perform her song "Hero," dedicated to the Long Island health care workers fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. David Buchin, Director of Bariatric Surgery at Northwell Health-Huntington Hospital, is launching a petition for the Grammy-Award winning artist to help boost morale and awareness for health care heroes.
Huntington is among the hardest hit New York City suburbs, with thousands of cases of COVID-19.
Carey is a 1987 graduate of Harborfields High School.
In 2001, in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, "Hero" became an anthem for the police, firefighters, and emergency personnel responding and helping America recover.
