Death of well-respected tow truck driver on Merritt Parkway shakes industry

Corey Iodice, of Iodice Family Transport in Fairfield, was helping the driver of a broken down car on the Merritt Parkway on Wednesday when a driver lost control and fatally struck him, state police say. 
The incident happened in the afternoon near Exit 47 on the Merritt Parkway in Trumbull. Iodice was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 58.
Sgt. Robert Derry says it has not yet been determined how the driver lost control, but that it will emerge “though the course of the investigation.”
There were no other injuries. The driver who struck Iodice is a 46-year-old man from Weston. He was not charged.
According to the company's website, Iodice has worked in the towing business for more than 30 years. Sean Strollo, who owns Strollo's Towing Service in Cheshire, called Corey Iodice "tow truck royalty."
“With somebody that close and that well-known and something like this happens – it really shakes the industry right down to the foundation,” he told News 12.

State police are reminding drivers that Connecticut has a "Move Over" law on the books. It requires drivers to slow down and move over a lane if an emergency vehicle is parked on the side of the road with its warning lights on.
