Lamont: Connecticut is 7-10 days from reopening some places, businesses
BRIEFING UPDATES:
-The governor, Department of Social Services and other departments are working on ways to get food to people who are struggling right now.
-Dept. of Social Services ensuring that people who receive SNAP will receive as much as possible.
-SNAP eligibility has been extended for six months.
-Hospitalizations are down about 25% but fatality rate is still high.
-Connecticut is about 7 days into declining hospitalizations and under federal guidelines, in another 7 to 10 days the state could make some announcements on places that can reopen.
-Fairfield County continues to trend down in hospitalizations and Hartford and New Haven counties remain flat.
-Lamont says the state is going to be ramping up testing "big time," including moving from just testing symptomatic people to also testing asymtomatic people.
