Local businesses have expressed concerns about getting sued as the state begins reopening, attorneys say.

Attorney Steven Frederick, with Wofsey, Rosen, Kweskin & Kuriansky in Stamford, says COVID-19 is making it challenging for businesses to reopen.

He says local businesses need to understand new laws like the Family First Coronavirus Relief Act, along with all executive orders and local rules.

Frederick says employers are even concerned with how they are going to bring employees back without discriminating.

Odete DaSilva, who owns Artistic Salon and Spa in Westport, says she supports the delayed opening for salons.

She says besides that, her insurance company will not cover any issues after COVID-19.

DaSilva says she also wants to make sure her salon is clean and for her employees and customers to feel comfortable.

She says that includes customers and employees wearing personal protective equipment.

DaSilva says she'll be staggering appointments and slowly bringing back employees.
