It is almost Memorial Day Weekend and Connecticut state beaches will be open, some even for swimming at the shoreline. But swimmers need to be cautious -- there will be no lifeguards on duty.
The state Parks commissioner wants people to say at least 15 feet away from other beachgoers.
"People are behaving. I don't know what's happening in Huntington Beach, California, but in Connecticut, people are following the rules," said Stamford resident Julia Wade.
Concessions and outdoor seating are roped off and if parking lots get more than 25% full, beaches and state parks will close for the day.
Gov. Ned Lamont urged people Thursday to avoid the busiest spots and to go to other parks that aren't as popular.
Lakes and ponds at state parks are off limits. Greenwich town beaches will also be closed this weekend.
