A teacher from Norwalk was a contestant on one of America's most popular game shows -- "Jeopardy!"
Peter Gouveia is a seventh-grade English teacher in Rye, New York.
He competed in the Jeopardy Teachers Tournament.
Gouveia says he took an online test a year ago this past January and went to auditions in Boston.
He says 98,000 people applied, and he was one of 15 teachers selected for the tournament. He says it was a thrill to meet Alex Trebek, who has been battling cancer.
Gouveia says he didn't do as well as he wanted to in the episode that aired Monday. He came in second on the first game.
He says his high school prom date was also on "Jeopardy" back in 2009.
