Trumbull H.S. to have outdoor graduation ceremony with students staying in cars
Trumbull High School announced Thursday that it will have a live outdoor graduation ceremony on June 20.
Students will remain in cars during the graduation.
The news comes as numbers of those hospitalized by COVID-19 continue to drop.
Gov. Ned Lamont also noted the state’s success in keeping numbers down at a press conference Thursday.
"We have some of the lowest infection rates, not only in the states, but in the region," Lamont says.
Marc Guarino, principal of Trumbull High School, wrote in a letter sent to parents that, "We are happy to announce that we will recognize and celebrate our graduates on Saturday, June 20, 2020 on the grounds of Trumbull High School with a graduation ceremony aligned to the CSDE and Connecticut State Department of Public Health guidelines."
Guarino says in order to accommodate over 500 graduates in the THS Class of 2020, the graduation ceremony will include a structured time for students and their families to be on campus in their vehicle to be part of the ceremony.
