A well-known Fairfield woman has lost her battle with cancer, but her spirit lives on.
Deanna Herlihy was known to everyone as Miss Dee. She ran a popular preschool called Curiosity Corner in Fairfield that was forced to close last March.
Her family told News 12 Connecticut that Herlihy passed away earlier this month after multiple surgeries.
They say after being cancer-free for 20 years, Herlihy's metastatic breast cancer came back and spread throughout her bones and body.
Herlihy loved to ride her bike, and her sister wants her memory to live on.
"I want my sister to know that we want her to be at peace and may she ride her bicycle with the angels as they soar," said Debra Cingari.
Cingari says the town of Fairfield has agreed to put up a bench in honor of Herlihy later this summer.
