Residents of a Bridgeport co-op say they are not safe in their homes.
Those who live in the Second Stone Ridge Co-op say their community is plagued by toxic mold, broken sidewalks and other problems.
They tell News 12 that their board of directors is "dangerously out of touch with their needs and fails to keep them informed of important changes and decisions."
"We are now privately owned," says Brenda Williams. "We'd like to know when that happened, as we never got notice of it, just like we never got notice of our finance company being dismissed."
The Second Stone Ridge Co-Op Board of Directors responded, saying in part: "We have been working hard to address COVID-19 issues while simultaneously renovating our community meeting hall. Our co-op has not been under HUD guidelines over 20 years. Once we paid off our mortgage to the federal government, we instantly became shareholder owners. The board is transparent and cooperative and open to meeting with members at any time to address their concerns."
