Lyman Orchards calls Middlefield home for over 275 years

A popular family attraction in New England has called Middlefield, Connecticut home for over 275 years.
Lyman Orchards has been commercially growing fruit on the same land overlooking the Connecticut River for more than a century.
They say visitors can pick nearly 100 varieties of fruits from June through October in the orchard.
Lyman Orchards is the 12th oldest family-run business in the United States, according to John Lyman, the executive vice president of the orchard.
The orchard continues to be run by the eighth and ninth generations of the family who first settled the land in 1741.
Lyman says the orchard has been around since the time of George Washington’s childhood.
Apples, peaches, nectarines and pears are all in season through late August, employees say.
Lyman says the orchard will celebrate its 21st corn maze this fall which is four acres and features about 2 miles of paths.
Lyman Orchards also boasts three championship-caliber golf courses.
