Officials confirm tornado touched down through Bethany, Hamden and North Haven

Officials have confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in the state Thursday, hitting Bethany, Hamden and North Haven.
It was the longest-track tornado in Connecticut since 1979.
Anthony Cucinelli, the property owner of a building in Hamden, says about 25 people were working in an office space when the tornado touched down. He says the roof flew off landing in the street, and the rain poured from the third floor to the basement.
He says the storm happened so fast, but expects it will take nearly six months to make the building functional again.
Rep. Rosa DeLauro toured the building's damage, meeting with the owners. She says she wants to ensure local and federal relief for residents and business owners.
She pioneered the Debris Act in 2018 to make sure people got help following storms.
The mayor of Hamden tells News 12 that 34 residential homes were affected, and that crews are still surveying the damage.
The cost estimates of the damage to each town affected by the tornado is being assessed. The mayor of Hamden says he believes there is about $1 million worth of damage.
