STRATFORD - The playground built in Long Brook Park in remembrance of Stratford native Victoria Soto was officially opened today.

Soto was one of the teachers killed during the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

It marks the fifth of 26 playgrounds being built for each of the victims as part of the Sandy Ground project, which was started by a group of firefighters in New Jersey to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Soto’s family unveiled a plaque leading to the playground, which includes her name and picture. They say that the park is intended to help preserve Soto’s legacy and provide a way for other kids who have never met her to see how fun she was and how much she meant to everyone.
