Tenants in buildings owned by The Pinnacle Group can now get free legal services thanks to a settlement brought about by a class action lawsuit
The free legal services are one of several requirements under a settlement with The Pinnacle Group, which was sued by 30,000 tenants back in 2007. Legal Services of NYC says Pinnacle was a landlord with over 500 properties throughout the city that it bought out with the goal of evicting rent-regulated tenants.
Under the settlement, residents who lived in Pinnacle-owned buildings between July 11, 2004 and April 27, 2010 can file a claim for forced evictions, unfair rent increases, harassment, lack of repairs and other mistreatment.
Legal services is urging those who believe they may have a claim to come forward fast. The deadline to file is Dec. 31.
