State lawmakers met Monday to discuss ways to fund the first steps of Gov. Dannel Malloy's major transportation improvement plan.
The committee responsible for revenue held a public hearing on a bill that would authorize nearly $3 billion for highway and rail improvements.
Projects included in the plan are widening I-95 between Stamford and Bridgeport, reconfiguring the Route 7 and Route 15 interchange in Norwalk and designing a pedestrian bridge in Stamford on the Metro-North's New Haven line.
If the plan is approved, the money would be spent over the course of the next three years.
