GREENWICH - A rare Rothschild giraffe was born Friday at the Leo Zoological Conservation Center in Greenwich.

The newborn is already 6 feet tall and could grow to a towering height of 18 feet when fully mature.

Zoo officials say the giraffe is doing well and already standing. A contest has been launched to name it.

The Rothschild giraffe is on the endangered species list.
