Redding police are warning the public about a phone scam that has tricked three people out of nearly $200,000.
Investigators say the caller claims to be a member of the victim's family and tells them they are in jail outside the country.
The caller then asks to send cash so they can make bond.
Police say seniors are the most likely to be targeted by the scammers.
If you get a call like this, you are asked to hang up and contact police immediately.
