NORWALK - Teens from churches in Norwalk and Weston are going without food for part of the weekend to raise awareness for worldwide child hunger.

St. Philip Roman Catholic Church in Norwalk is one of the church groups participating. A group of teens from the Norfield Congregational Church are also taking part in the 30-hour famine.

Reverend Kelly Hough Rogers says the event is a great way for teens to learn about those who go hungry around the world.

Event organizers say nearly 7,000 children worldwide die each day because of hunger.
