The Wilton Police Department and Wilton Chamber of Commerce handed out roses to drivers Friday.
Capt. Robert Cipolla and members of his department didn't stop cars to hand out tickets but instead flowers.
"It's nice any time we can interact with the public in a non-law enforcement capacity, and that's exactly what this is," Cipolla says.
Mother and daughter Brittney and Patricia Miranda were caught by surprise.
"We're so grateful for all of the wonderful contributions that the chamber makes to the town," they say.
The flowers from Damselfly Designs at the Village Market put smiles on their faces.
Wilton Chamber of Commerce Treasurer John Dicenzo says it's all about paying it forward.
"We're trying to put some positive energy out into the world," Dicenzo says.
