State police say a Waterman man has died in a multivehicle crash in Litchfield Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred just before 11 a.m on Route 254.
Police say a Toyota Rav4 Ltd was attempting to cross the intersection of Main Street and Route 254 when it was hit by a Honda Civic LX that was driving southbound on Route 254.
The Honda was hit in the northbound lane, which caused a Volkswagen Taos Se, driving in the northbound lane, to hit the Honda head on.
The driver of the Honda, David Foster Kaufman, 82, was transported to Waterbury Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Volkswagen was also taken to Waterbury Hospital with minor injuries.
As a result, Route 254 at Knife Shop Road was closed temporarily while officers investigated.
The crash is under investigation.
