An afternoon in Lake Waubeeka turned tragic for a 14-year-old Wednesday.
Police say the teenager, whose identity has not been released, drowned while swimming in the lake. The boy had been underwater for 45 minutes before being retrieved from the water.
Paramedics tried to revive the teenager and took him to the emergency room at Danbury Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses say the victim is not from the area and was there visiting relatives.
