More than 30 people were left homeless Saturday after two fires ripped through homes in Norwalk and Bridgeport.
Fire officials say the first fire began in a first floor apartment in Norwalk and was most likely caused by an electric heater. A few hours later, another blaze broke out in a Bridgeport building, completely gutting upstairs apartments. According to firefighters, the flames began in the kitchen and spread from there.
The Red Cross was on hand to help the victims of the fires, providing food and clothing and arranging temporary shelter at local hotels and victims? relatives? homes.
