Delanie Fekert, 25, of Floral Park, New York, and Urashi Madani, 25, of North Andover, were both killed in the crash on Saturday.
Massachusetts State Police say the 2007 Lexus RX400H SUV ride-share vehicle the two were traveling in was rear-ended by a tow truck on I-93 in Boston south of Exit 20 after it slowed down.
A third vehicle, a 2012 Honda Civic sedan, was traveling behind the truck and struck the truck at an angle.
The driver of the Lexus, a 53-year-old Revere man, was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries.
The operator of the tow truck, a Salem woman, sustained no apparent injury and remained on the scene for the investigation.
The operator of the Honda, a Manchester, New Hampshire, woman, sustained no apparent injury and remained on the scene for the investigation.
Police say the crash is under investigation.
